The 2014 season is shaping up about the same as our 1974 season, only slower. The way over 45 men’s softball team ,the Alpine PT Cruisers, are currently in spring training for this summer’s rigorous schedule. Defibrillators and oxygen tanks are in the dugouts and dehydration fluids are always available… in case the other teams need help.
Some are training in Mexico and Mesa. Others are in the Pressbox or the health club. But the goal for all is the same: to show up upright.
Last season was a bust as injuries and fishing trips had their affect. But with a few new recruits, the team is upbeat and ready to go for the gold. It has been two years now since we won the city title, and we are due for a comeback.
Our roster for this year is quite full, but if you are talented and interested (and “of age”)in softball we would be glad to hear from you. Thanks to Alpine for our full ride scholarship program. We do appreciate it and we will try to get injured so we can visit your friendly and efficient staff.
Here’s a picture of our point man and Alpine magnate, Doug, and his Alpine Ruby.
