A typical Saturday morning. Coffee in hand. Mouse at the ready. I clicked over to the Missoulian to check the day’s headlines.
To my astonishment, my eyes caught the title of an article that was a must read. In my gut, I knew from the title that it must be about our Fit to Fight Program at Alpine. The title read:
Choosing action: Cancer meets its match in determined Montanans who run, walk, bike — fight
Sure enough. The article highlighted the Fit to Fight program codeveloped by Alpine star physical therapist, Sam Schoeneman.
Here’s the story’s introduction. . .
In 2008, doctors told Scott Woods that his lung cancer was incurable.
So what did he do?
He set out to complete a triathlon.
“If I have to walk that last three miles,” said Woods, 43, a professor of hydrology in the University of Montana School of Forestry and Conservation, “I’ll finish it.”
